


Bamboo Cluster Development Projects
Keeping in view of the concentration of families in the villages involved in the activity NABARD has identified Chikli village to be developed as a cluster for development of the bamboo craft. This Cluster Development Project is jointly sponsored by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and District Panchayat Office, Indore. The Cluster project was implemented by Indian Institute of Social Development (IISD), Indore as Nodal agency. Under this project 150 bamboo artisans families have been assisted.

IISD has formulated and executed different types of Entrepreneurship Development Programmes for the assorted targeted groups:

| Common facility Centre for Bamboo artisans | Common Facility Centre has been constructed by District Panchayat and now it is available for the bamboo artisans. The building has large space for bamboo-based activities. |
| Financial Linkages with IDBI Bank | Bamboo artisans, families have established linkages with IDBI Banks and Handloom Office & Training Centre, Indore for a financial lo subsidy under the state government schemes. |
| Better business environment acquaintances | Bamboo artisans visited Dohad (Gujarat State) New Delhi, Bhopal, Agartala (Tripura State). These exposure visits have created a new vision among the young Bamboo artisans. |
| Marketing of Bamboo products | Bamboo artisans have good access to the marketing of products through government-sponsored Hats and exhibitions. Marketing of decorative and good Bamboo products are being done by the artisans in weekly hats, local market, district and state level exhibitions. |
